CARQUEST World of Wheels Heats Up This Weekend at McCormick Place
CHICAGO, Jan. 30 -- Mini Me, NASCAR champion Sterling Marlin,
WWE legend Jerry "The King" Lawler and The Fridge are some of the celebrities
making appearances, Friday through Sunday, at the 41st Annual CARQUEST World
of Wheels at McCormick Place - Lakeside Center. Other entertainment includes
Chicago-area high school and technical school students competing for speed and
accuracy in an engine teardown and rebuild competition, BMX bikers performing
high-flying air and ground stunts and an open-to-all talent contest.
Debuting at World of Wheels is the first-ever, life-size Hot Wheels car,
the Twin Mill and the automated car Eleanor from the hit movie Gone In Sixty
Seconds. Based on a 1960s Mattel model, the Twin Mill model was the first car
designed specifically as a die-cast toy car. In addition, hundreds of souped
up cars, trucks and bikes lovingly restored by Chicago-area car enthusiasts
are on display all weekend vying for part of a total series purse of $85,000.
