BMW Reports Strongest Sales Month Ever
BMW Brand Records 11.5 Percent Jump
MINI Brand Sales Up 5.4 Percent
Group Sales Increase 10.7 Percent
WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., May 3 -- The BMW Group (BMW and MINI brands combined) reported an increase of 10.7 percent in April sales for 26,709 vehicles compared to the 24,131 vehicles sold that month in 2003. The BMW Group also reported year-to-date sales of 87,950 vehicles, an increase of 1.7 percent from 86,513 sold in the first quarter of 2003.
BMW Brand Reports Sales
BMW of North America, LLC reported an 11.5 percent increase in April sales of automobiles and Sports Activity Vehicles, to 23,419 vehicles compared to the 21,010 reported last April, making it the strongest retail month on record.
Strong sales of the X3, the newest Sports Activity Vehicle, contributed to BMW's record sales, as did impressive sales of the all-new 6 Series coupes and convertibles.
Year-to-date, sales of BMW brand vehicles were up 1.6 percent, for sales of 76,389 vehicles compared to 75,209 vehicles sold in first four months of 2003.
BMW Automobile Sales
BMW's automobile sales increased 1.6 percent in April, to 18,587 versus 18,294 in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date sales were down 5.7 percent, to 60,511 automobiles compared to 64,183 in the same period a year ago.
BMW Sports Activity Vehicle Sales
Year-to-date, sales of BMW Sports Activity Vehicles are up 78 percent. Total April SAV sales were 4,832, compared to 2,716 vehicles sold in April 2003. Year-to-date, sales of BMW's two SAV models are up 44 percent, to 15,878 vehicles compared to 11,026 for the first four months of 2003.
Certified Pre-owned
BMW also reported sales of 6,101 Certified Pre-owned vehicles, down 1.7 percent over the 6,204 vehicles sold in April 2003. Year-to-date, BMW CPO sales were up 7.7 percent to 23,063 vehicles over 21,408 in the same period a year ago.
MINI Brand MINI Automobiles
Demand for MINI brand automobiles continues as the MINI division heads into its third year of sales in the U.S. April 2004 sales were up 5.4 percent, with 3,290 cars compared to 3,121 sold a year ago. Sales of MINI automobiles in the first four months are up 2.3 percent with sales of 11,561 over the 11,304 in 2003.
