Porsche Cars North America Reports December Sales
Best Year in History for Porsche in North America
ATLANTA, Jan. 4 -- Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars and Cayenne SUVs in the United States and Canada, today announced 2004 was the best sales year in its history. PCNA sold 33,289 cars in North America, an increase of 11 percent over 2003 and 10 percent above the previous record year, 1986 when the company sold 30,471 cars. Of the 33,289 cars sold in 2004, 19,134 were Porsche Cayennes, 10,227 were Porsche 911s, 3,728 were Porsche Boxsters and 200 were Porsche Carrera GTs. For the month of December, PCNA sold 2,695 cars in the U.S. (detail below) and 142 cars in Canada. Though U.S. sales dipped by 4 percent for the month, Cayenne sales increased by 4 percent and 911 sales were up 13 percent, showing the positive impact of the new-generation sports car.
"It's clear that value is a driver, even in the premium segment," said Peter Schwarzenbauer, PCNA President and CEO. "As we renew our products, we focus not only on traditional Porsche performance, but providing more value for our customers. Our sales results show customers are responding, and the story will get even better with the arrival of the new Boxster."
The second-generation Boxster goes on sale January 15.
