Pure Diesel Luxury: Mercedes Unveils 235 kW/320 hp S 420 CDI Model

No longer ladies and gentlemen, thanks to Mercedes' introduction today of a model diesel lovers across Europe will undoubtedly take great delight in: the S 420 CDI. Yes, the wait is finally over for Mercedes' flagship diesel V8-powered luxury sedan. Powered by a state-of-the-art V8 CDI engine developing 235 kW/320 hp and and 730 newton meters of peak torque, the S 420 CDI is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds and reaching an electronically-governed top speed of 250 km/h, all while consuming between 9.4 to 9.6 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers. With a fuel tank capacity of 90 liters, this translates into an operating range close to the 1,000 kilometer mark. Of course, being an S-Class, the 420 CDI model comes available with the host of features and technology found on the other members of the flagship family. PRE-SAFE, PRE-SAFE Brake, DISTRONIC PLUS, ADAPTIVE BRAKE, 12-way adjustable power seats, COMAND with CD/DVD player and PCMCIA slot, DIRECT SELECT gearshift, ESP... you get the idea.
