AAA Chicago: Gas Prices Hold Steady in July

AURORA, Ill., July 19,2010; Well into July, gas prices continue on their trend this summer of holding steady as prices continue to be well under $3.00 per gallon. AAA Chicago's most recent Fuel Gauge Report estimates that in Illinois, regular unleaded gasoline has decreased $.04 cents during the past month, forecasting an average cost of $2.79 per gallon for the month of July, which is $.18 higher per gallon than last year.

In northern Indiana, gas prices average $2.72, which is up 2 cents from June 2010 and up $.26 from July 2009.

  --  In Cook County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
      $2.95, which is down $.05 from last month and $.19 higher than last
      year's price-per-gallon.
  --  In DuPage County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
      $2.83 per gallon, which is a 5-cent decrease from July and down 16
      cents from last year.
  --  In Kane County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
      $2.79 per gallon, which is 7 cents lower compared to last month and
      $.15 higher than July 2009's price.
  --  In Lake County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
      $2.76 per gallon, which is 7 cents lower than last month and up by
      $.19 compared to this time last year.
  --  In McHenry County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
      $2.77 per gallon, which is 6 cents lower than last month's average and
      $.12 higher than July 2009's price.
  --  In Will County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
      $2.79 per gallon, which is 4 cents lower compared to last month and
      $.13 higher compared to last year.
  --  In Champaign County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline
      averages $2.74 per gallon, an increase of 2 cents from June and an
      increase of $.21 from last year.
  --  In McLean County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
      $2.72 per gallon, which is 1 cent lower than last month and $.25
      higher than last year.
  --  In Peoria County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
      $2.67 per gallon, which is down $.06 compared to last month and up
      $.19 from July 2009.
  --  In Sangamon County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline
      averages $2.63 per gallon, which is 5 cents lower than last month and
      $.30 higher than last year.
  --  In Winnebago County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline
      averages $2.71 per gallon, an increase of 4 cents from June and an
      increase of $.17 from July 2009.
  --  In Allen County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
      $2.69 per gallon, which is an increase of 4 cents from last month and
      $.30 higher than July 2009's price.
  --  In Lake County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
      $2.73 per gallon, a 2-cent increase from June's average and a $.28
      increase from a year ago.
  --  In Porter County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages
      $2.71 per gallon, which is 2 cents higher than last month and $.22
      higher than last year.
  --  In St. Joseph County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline
      averages $2.68 per gallon, which is 4 cents higher compared to last
      month and $.21 higher compared to last year.
