Hi there, Today, Cars.com released its 18th annual American-Made Index <https://www.cars.com/articles/cars-com-american-made-index-sees-260-jump-in-electrified-vehicles-since-2020-tesla-lands-top-spots-467687/>. Cars.com’s esteemed automotive experts independently evaluated and ranked the highest-contributing vehicles to the U.S. economy for manufacturing, parts sourcing and employment. This year, the AMI consideration set comprises 388 vehicles, but only 100 made the cut <https://www.dropbox.com/sh/t2sgsunntrdt2nb/AADqRJK-QroTzAIk7-V35fMTa?dl=0> with electric vehicle powerhouse Tesla sweeping the first four spots, joined at the top by mainstay Honda, returning Acura and newcomer Volkswagen, making its first-ever showing in the Index’s top 10. 2023 AMI TOP 10 1. Tesla Model Y 2. Tesla Model 3 3. Tesla Model X 4. Tesla Model S 5. Honda Passport 6. Volkswagen ID.4 7. Honda Odyssey 8. Acura MDX 9. Honda Ridgeline 10. Acura RDX According to a Cars.com consumer survey <https://www.dropbox.com/sh/x1342aiw76rulo4/AACk-oBAvR170TJLoaVVqBaoa?dl=0>, about half of car shoppers say they will pay more for a vehicle that creates U.S. jobs, with the number of Americans willing to pay an additional 30% or more to support U.S. jobs almost doubling year over year. Additionally, 24% of Americans believe that a manufacturer has to be headquartered in the U.S. to qualify as “substantially contributing to the U.S. economy,?? which fairs well for OEMs considered to be “traditionally?? American like GM and Ford, however, it’s the foreign automakers like Toyota and Honda, who are on the rise on Cars.com’s AMI list. I’d like to get you connected with one of our Cars.com experts who can speak more to this year’s list, the methodology behind its compilation and the disconnect we’re seeing between consumer understanding and the real American-made automotive market. Let me know if you have any questions and when you would like to speak with someone at Cars.com about this news.
