MIKE McLAUGHLIN NOTES & QUOTES: ADVANCE AUTO PARTS 250
MYRTLE BEACH, SC - "During last year's race at Myrtle Beach, we had a real
good car in the beginning," said McLaughlin. "At one point I thought that we
could win the race. Unfortunately, we lost our set-up on the last set of
tires and wound up finishing sixth."
"There are so many rumors out there, you don't know which ones to believe or
where they came from," McLaughlin said about the Myrtle Beach Speedway track
conditions. "All I know is that we tested there approximately three weeks ago
and the surface was fine."
The #34 Royal Oak Charcoal Chevrolet that McLaughlin will drive this weekend
is the same one that finished 27th in Richmond, 10th in Hickory, 13th in
Nashville, eighth in South Boston and 13th in Milwaukee this season.
"We have been working on this particular car all season long," explained
McLaughlin. "We have made numerous adjustments, and hope that we can get the
race set-up we need in order to put the #34 Royal Oak Charcoal Chevrolet in
victory lane at Myrtle Beach."
Team 34 Racing owner, Frank Cicci, has one win at Myrtle Beach Speedway. It
occurred in 1989 when his driver, Jimmy Spencer, took the checkered flag in
the Carolina Pride/Bud 200. Spencer was driving a Buick.
