JERRY NADEAU NOW A FREE AGENT
DENVER, NC (July 23, 1997) - Jerry Nadeau and Precision Products Racing have
parted ways. Nadeau will no longer drive the No. 1 R&L Carriers Pontiac and
is pursuing new driving opportunities.
Nadeau, 26, of Danbury, Conn., took over driving duties for the team in early
June. In only five races, his first experience in NASCAR Winston Cup
competition, Nadeau qualified ninth at New Hampshire International Speedway
and made a positive impression on the racing industry.
"I am very grateful to Richard Jackson for giving me the chance to drive his
Winston Cup car," said Nadeau. "The experience I gained in those five races
brought me that much closer to my goals in motor sports."
Nadeau has 22 years of racing experience including stock car racing and
open-wheel competition. This year he finished second and fourth in two
Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) events at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
In 1996, Nadeau finished sixth overall in the Formula Opel European Union
Series, an open-wheel racing series, although he competed in only 13 of 16
events. His motor sports career also includes winning five Barber Pro Series
events; competing in endurance races such as the 12 Hours of Sebring; winning
the Skip Barber Racing Big Scholarship in 1992; and winning 10 karting
championships between 1984 and 1990.
"I'm ready for whatever the future holds," said Nadeau. "My ability to be
flexible and adapt to many different types of racing helped me get where I am
today and that won't change. I'm going to continue to work hard so I can take
advantage of the opportunities this experience has given me."
