WATKINS GLEN, NY - The #29 Cartoon Network NASCAR Winston Cup Chevrolet Monte
Carlo that Jeff Green will pilot this weekend is the same car than ran in the
top 10 last year at Watkins Glen International with Butch Leitzinger as the
driver.
Jeff Green and the #29 Cartoon Network team tested at Watkins Glen
International July 21-22. As a result, Wes Ward and the #29 Diamond Ridge
team re-built the car and expect positive results.
This is the first time Jeff Green has competed in a Winston Cup car at Watkins
Glen Raceway, but he ran in two NASCAR Busch Series races at the famed road
course. "Because of the horsepower, there is a big difference between driving
a Winston Cup car and a Busch car on a road course," said Green. "A Busch car
does not have as much power, so you drive into the turns much harder. In a
Winston Cup car you let off the gas earlier going into the turn and get back
in the gas sooner out of the turn. If you try to drive a Winston Cup car like
a Busch car, you will find yourself overshooting the corners."
Jeff Green continues to build his '37 Chevrolet hot rod at the Diamond Ridge
Motorsports shop during his spare time. This week he placed the motor in the
car.
