WATKINS GLEN, NY - "I can't wait to get back to Watkins Glen. Last year I led
the race for 14 laps and ran real strong. I think we have something to prove

- Schrader is looking to improve his finishes on road courses this year.
After a disappointing finish at Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma, Calif., last
May, the Skoal Bandit Racing team is looking for revenge. Schrader will be
driving "Wyatt Earp," named for the famous outlaw. They chose the name because
Earp was on both sides of the law and this road course car was built to make
both left and right turns. This race is just the second start for this race
car which ran earlier this season at Sears Point. All of the cars in the Andy
Petree Racing Winston Cup stable are being renamed after famous outlaws. We'll
keep you posted.
- Schrader led 14 laps during last year's Bud at the Glen. Geoff Bodine had
just passed Schrader for the lead and eventual victory when Schrader's motor
expired with eight laps remaining.
- In 11 career starts at Watkins Glen, Schrader has posted two top-five and
four top-10 finishes. He also has two outside poles.
- Schrader will be making the following appearances this week in the upstate
New York area: Race Week '97, downtown Elmira, N.Y., Wednesday, Aug. 6, 6-8
pm; NASCAR Race Fever Night, Corning, N.Y., Thursday, Aug. 7, 5-7 pm; Watkins
Glen Race Fever, Watkins Glen, N.Y., Friday, Aug. 8, 6-8 pm.
