HORNADAY LOOKING FOR VICTORY IN RICHMOND
RICHMOND, VA - NAPA Brakes driver Ron Hornaday re-injured his ribs (injured
at first race of season in Orlando, Fla.) during a crash in practice at
Watkins Glen, N.Y. Hornaday went on to finish fifth in the NASCAR Truck
Series event at Watkins Glen International on August 24. He is still sore
from the injury but is ready for the Virginia Is For Lovers 200 at Richmond
International Raceway, Richmond, Va. Hornaday finished second last year at
RIR and is looking to improve on that finish this year.
- The NAPA Brakes team has fared well at short track night races this year.
Richmond will be the last night race for the Truck Series this season. In the
three short track night races held this year, Hornaday has won two times
(Bristol, Tenn. and Indianapolis, Ind.) and placed second in the third
(Nashville, Tenn.).
- In the 10 short track events held this year Hornaday has recorded six
wins, eight top-five, and nine top-10 finishes. He has led 45% of the
possible laps ran on short tracks.
- Hornaday spent a couple days this past week "acting." He filmed a
television commercial in Charlotte, N.C. for his sponsor NAPA. The spot will
air nationally later this year. Hornaday stars as a guest instructor for the
NAPA Delivery Driver School in the commercial.
QUOTES:
NAPA Brakes driver Ron Hornaday on Watkins Glen International race and
accident:
"Needless to say Watkins Glen was a tough weekend for us. I wrecked the NAPA
truck in practice when the brake pedal broke off and the team had to hustle
to get the back up truck ready to race. I am pretty beat up -- it seems like
my ribs have been sore all year long. I need to thank the entire NAPA team,
they worked hard and we ended up with a good finish. They are the best."
Comments from Ron Hornaday on Richmond:
"The NAPA Brakes Chevy ran well at Richmond. I felt we were the best truck
there last year. The rains came and we did not get a chance to show it. I
want to win the race this time around. We get a great crowd at Richmond,
including the boss, Teresa Earnhardt and her husband. It would be great to
put the NAPA Chevy in victory lane when they are there."
