ELLIOTT SADLER NOTES & QUOTES: MBNA 200
DOVER, DE - Elliott Sadler and the Phillips 66 Performance Team are running a
different car at Dover Downs International Speedway than they ran earlier in
the year. This particular car ran three weeks ago at Darlington Raceway, and
the MBNA 200 will be Sadler's second start in this No. 29 Chevrolet.
"We are taking a different car to Dover this time, which is the same car we
ran in Darlington," Sadler said. "I think it is one of our best cars in the
shop. It was running really good in St. Louis before I wrecked, and it ran
real good all day long in Darlington. I really think we will be better off,
we'll just have to wait and see."
"We had a really good run at Dover in May, qualifying seventh and finishing
12th, but we also learned a lot about what race car would give us the best
performance when we returned," said Sandy Jones, crew chief for the No. 29
Phillips 66 entry. "I believe bringing this new car will be the key for us to
improve on our performance earlier this year."
As always, Sadler found a relaxing way to spend his weekend off from the
NASCAR Busch Series. He enjoyed a week of fun in the sun at his family's lake
house near his hometown of Emporia, Va.
Elliott Sadler will make his third trip to Dover this year in October, but not
to race. Sadler will be signing autographs at the Sears store in Dover, Del.,
on Sunday, October 5, 1997 from 1-3 p.m.
