JEFF GREEN NOTES & QUOTES: UAW-GM QUALITY 500
CONCORD, NC - In his two previous Winston Cup starts at Charlotte Motor
Speedway, Jeff Green has two top-10 starts on the 1.5-mile oval. Green hopes
to make that three top-10 starts when he returns to the track this weekend for
the UAW-GM Quality 500. The spring race at CMS marked Green's full-time
entrance in Winston Cup, driving the No. 29 Cartoon Network Chevrolet for
Diamond Ridge Motorsports.
- "I think I've progressed a lot since I first got in the car at Charlotte,
and I really think we've learned a lot as a team," Green said. "This track has
always been good to me, both in Winston Cup and Busch. I always look forward
to racing at Charlotte."
- The No. 29 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Green will pilot this weekend is a
different car than they utilized in the spring. The car has two other starts
this year, both at Michigan Speedway, where Green qualified in the top 15 on
both occasions. Green and crew chief Wes Ward feel the change in cars will
make a definite improvement under racing conditions.
- The Kentucky Headhunters are coming to Charlotte. This particular group
isn't the country music ensemble you may be familiar with. Instead, it is a
group of Green's friends from his hometown of Owensboro, Ky. Green spends as
much time as possible with his five closet friends, especially during the
winter when they frequent a hunting cabin they own in Kentucky. The Kentucky
Headhunters will be staying with Jeff and his wife, Michelle, for the race
weekend.
- Green will attend the unveiling of the new NASCAR Monopoly game on
Thursday, October 2 from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.
