CONCORD, NC - 

BURTON AND BOWN TO BACK-UP CARS

Jeff Burton and Jim Bown, who had qualified for today's event fifth and sixth 
respectively, were involved in a turn four accident during the final Busch 
Series practice on Thursday. Both cars involved were destroyed while the 
drivers were able to walk away uninjured.

Burton's Roush Racing team returned to their Mooresville, NC shop to retrieve 
a back up car. Bown's team rolled their back up No. 51 Barefoots/Rose Auto 
Monte Carlo off the hauler for preparation for today's event. Both drivers 
will fall to the rear of the field before the green flag falls.


ST MOTORSPORTS ANNOUNCES DRIVER & SPONSOR FOR 1998

The ST Motorsports Busch Series entry will have a whole new look for 1998. 
Kingsford Charcoal will come on board as the team's primary sponsor with 360 
Communications providing associate sponsorship support. Robert Pressley, who 
took over the ride midway through this season when driver Jeff Fuller was 
released, will remain as the team's driver for next season. In addition, the 
team has opted to switch their No. from the familiar 47 to Pressley's lucky 
number 59. The Monte Carlo will carry a red, white and blue paint scheme with 
the Kingsford Charcoal logo displayed prominently on the hood. 

The Concord, NC-based team entered the Busch Series scene in 1995 and became 
the first rookie operation in series history to finish in the top-10 in 
the overall points standings with a 10th-place showing.


THEY COME FROM ALL OVER

Today's All Pro Bumper to Bumper 43-car field represents 20 different states. 
North Carolina has the highest number of contingents with seven drivers. 
Virginia and New York are tied for second with four pilots apiece.
