Land Rover Reports Record August Sales

    LANHAM, Md., Sept. 3 -- Land Rover North America, Inc. today
reported best ever August sales of 2,359 units.  The month's total compares to
2,140 units sold during August of 1996.
    Charles R. Hughes, president, LRNA, said, "Our sales growth confirms that
Land Rover is the 4X4 Authority.  As such we strive to provide the finest
buying experience, service and on-going relationships in tune with our owners'
active lifestyles."
