Audi September Sales Best in Seven Years - Best Third Quarter and Best Year to Date Since 1987

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 2 -- Audi of America, Inc. reported
U.S. sales of 2,057 for the month of September, representing a 9.7 percent
increase over the same month last year when sales were 1,875.
    It was Audi's best September in seven years.  These results also make it
Audi's best third quarter and year to date sales performance in a decade.
Audi has demonstrated this kind of year-over-previous-year sales increase for
33 of the last 34 months.
    So far in 1997, Audi has sold 24,924 automobiles representing a
26.3 percent increase over the same period last year when the total was
19,731.
