Standard Motor Products Announces Quarterly Dividend of 8 Cents Per Share

    NEW YORK, Oct. 17 -- The Board of Directors of Standard Motor
Products, Inc. today announced a regular quarterly dividend of
eight cents per share on the common stock outstanding.
    The dividend will be paid on December 1, 1997 to stockholders of record
November 14, 1997.
    Standard Motor Products, Inc. is a manufacturer of automotive replacement
parts.
