NAIAS Charity Preview Traffic Advisory

    DETROIT, Jan. 9 -- With 15,000 people expected to attend the
North American International Auto Show Charity Preview, steps are being taken
to keep traffic congestion to a minimum.  Following is a list of traffic
changes, effective for tonight only.

    6 p.m.
    * Atwater becomes one-way westbound between Beaubien & Third.

    7:30 p.m.
    * The Joe Louis exit ramp on the Southbound Lodge Freeway closes.

    8 p.m.
    * Southbound Lodge Freeway is closed at Howard Street 8:30 p.m.
    * Westbound Jefferson is closed at Woodward.
    * Southbound Washington is closed at Fort.
    * Westbound Congress is closed at Shelby.
    * Atwater is closed to the general public.
    * Larned becomes a one-way street WESTBOUND between Beaubien and Griswold.

    These traffic changes will be in effect until approximately 10 p.m.
tonight.
    Officers will be stationed at several key intersections in Detroit with
maps directing people to the tunnel, Greektown and Cobo Center.
