PRIMEDIA Forms Automotive Group
David E. Davis Named Automotive Czar of Steering Committee
NEW YORK, Jan. 10 -- Charles G. McCurdy, President of
PRIMEDIA announced today that the company has formed an automotive information
group to coordinate the activities of its fifty-five Automotive product lines.
David E. Davis has been named chairman of the automotive group steering
committee. It was also announced that William Porter, President and CEO of
McMullen Argus, PRIMEDIA's special interest automobile group, will become vice
chair of the committee. Other PRIMEDIA companies represented on the committee
are, Intertec Publishing; Ward's Communications, PRIMEDIA Consumer Magazines,
National Market Reports, ASTN, PRIMEDIA Information, Inc., and IntelliChoice.
The steering committee will drive the strategy for new product lines, as
well as enhanced participation by PRIMEDIA in the automotive industry. Davis,
the founder and editor of Automobile Magazine, will add this new assignment to
his present portfolio of duties.
The announcement comes after a recent summit meeting of the executives of
all the PRIMEDIA products involved in the automotive business. "In just
8 years we have developed a solid position in the automotive arena. Our
Automotive group surrounds the industry with important information products
for consumers, manufacturers and distributors. Our automotive steering
committee allows some of the brightest people in the industry to gather
regularly, combine resources and create value for PRIMEDIA through cross
selling opportunities and new product ideas. As our new advertising suggests,
we are "King of the Road," said McCurdy.
