Subaru Announces January End-of-Month Sales Figures
CHERRY HILL, N.J., Feb. 2 -- Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA)
today announced its January sales figures. Subaru recorded a sales total of
9,015 units -- up over 3 percent versus January 1997. The Legacy model line
led sales with 5,449 units posted. The Outback accounted for 3,488 units of
the Legacy lineup -- a 2.5 percent increase over the same period last year.
Forester sales contributed 2,197 units for the month of January.
Subaru of America, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fuji Heavy
Industries Ltd. of Japan. Headquartered near Philadelphia, the company
markets and distributes Subaru vehicles, parts and accessories through a
network of nearly 620 franchised dealers across the United States. All Legacy
models sold in the U.S., including the Outback, are produced at the company's
American manufacturing plant, Subaru-Isuzu Automotive, Inc., near Lafayette,
Ind.
