Best-Ever February Sales Reported By Toyota's Chicago Region
CHICAGO, March 5 -- Toyota's Chicago Region posted record car
and truck sales in February of 4,850 vehicles, a 19 percent increase over
1997.
New car sales at 114 Toyota dealers in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and
the Upper Peninsula of Michigan totaled 4,524, a 23 percent increase over last
year's 3,688 sales.
"Strong performance by our North-American built Camrys and Avalons, as
well as the Toyota RAV4 and 4Runner sports utility vehicles, all contributed
to a record setting sales month," said Dave Camden, general manager of the
Chicago Region.
"The full-size Avalon recorded a best-ever February, with sales up 59
percent from last year," Camden said. "Toyota 4Runner and RAV4 had sales
gains of 69 percent and 55 percent, respectively."
Camry, America's favorite car in 1997, continued to post sales gains, with
a 14 percent increase over February 1997.
