MORE: The Pony Express Tour '98 began on June 20 at the site of
the original Pony Express Stables in St. Joseph, MO. The
riders criss-cross 44 states in the U.S. and part of
Canada, following a similar route in a relay fashion on
motorcycles as their predecessors established on horseback
in the late 1800s to deliver mail. More than 900
motorcyclists, including 34 female and two male breast
cancer survivors, are participating in the Tour, which
consists of 150 relay legs, each 100-200 miles in length.
BMW has provided a stable of eight motorcycles for use on
the Tour. The riders, aboard many different brands of
motorcycles, are united by a passion for motorcycling and a
common goal to eradicate breast cancer.
