National Fuel Cell Vehicle Conference to Be Held in Washington

    WASHINGTON, Dec. 17 -- On February 4th and 5th 1999, leading
automotive industry executives, fuel cell technology developers, fuel
providers, environmentalists and top government officials will gather at the
Hotel Washington in Washington, D.C. for a two-day conference on "The Road to
Fuel Cell Vehicles: A National Forum."
    Keynote presentations will be provided by: the world's leading automotive
expert on fuel cell vehicles, Dr. Ferdinand Panik of Daimler-Chrysler; fuel
cell development forerunner Firoz Rasul of Ballard Power Systems; and fuel
providers Pierre Choquette of the Methanex Corporation and Alastair Livesey of
Shell Hydrogen.
    Other invited keynote presenters include: Vice President Al Gore; U.S. DOE
Secretary Bill Richardson; U.S. EPA Administrator Carol Browner; Jason Mark of
the Union of Concerned Scientists; and key members of Congress.
    Sponsored by the American Methanol Institute (AMI) and CMAI, the forum is
designed to help the nation build a roadmap for the commercialization of fuel
cell vehicles which have emerged as a promising alternative to the internal
