Mitsubishi Motors' Eclipse is Back in its Origin State of Illinois, Celebrating 10 Successful Years
Seven Signature Eclipses Featured in 'Eclipse Salon' at 91st Annual Chicago
Auto Show, Feb. 10-11
WHO: Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc. (MMSA); Chicago Auto Show
WHAT: Mitsubishi Motors is celebrating 10 years of Eclipse in the
vehicle's home state of Illinois. Eclipse has been the
hottest-selling import nameplate in its class nationwide, with more
than one-half million U.S.-assembled coupes and convertibles built
at Mitsubishi Motors' assembly plant in Normal, Ill.
Come visit Mitsubishi Motors' Eclipse Salon to view the 10-year
evolution of Eclipse's signature style, performance and value, while
taking a glimpse into the future of this exciting sports coupe,
where you will see:
-- First Eclipse ever built on Mitsubishi Motors' U.S. assembly line,
which is now an official car for the Illinois State Governor's office.
-- 1994 Eclipse GSX, the only all-wheel drive car at the Eclipse Salon.
-- Eclipse convertible open-air concept car, designed as a precursor to
the Eclipse Spyder convertible, with unique design elements such as
fishnet material used for its convertible top.
-- 1,000,000th car (1996 Eclipse Spyder) assembled at Mitsubishi Motor
Manufacturing of America, Inc., in Normal, Ill.
-- SST Spyder concept car, which previews advanced styling for roadsters
in the next millennium.
-- 1999 Eclipse GS, with special value package, the most popular model in
the Eclipse line, powered by a normally aspirated 2.0-liter DOHC
16-valve engine.
-- 1999 Eclipse Spyder GS-T, the fiercest of the Spyders; powered by a
2.0-liter DOHC 16-valve engine, the Spyder GS-T has up to
210-horsepower which allows this sporty convertible to turn its chrome
plated, 16-inch alloys into a blur, and leave its prey well behind its
rear spoiler.
