Toyota Announces Mid-Year Price Increase on 1999 Models

    TORRANCE, Calif., March 5 -- Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A.,
Inc., today announced a slight increase in the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail
Price (MSRP) for most of its 1999 model cars and trucks.
    On a sales-weighted basis, the overall price increase is 0.3 percent or
$63.  The increases by series range from 0.3 percent to 0.5 percent.  Prices
for the Tacoma compact pickup truck remain unchanged, except for PreRunner,
which will increase 0.3 percent.
    The price increases will be effective April 2, 1999.
