DaimlerChrysler Introduces Fit for a Kid in Detroit With Community-Wide Child Safety Seat Inspections
DETROIT, Oct. 12 -- DaimlerChrysler issued the following:
WHAT: DaimlerChrysler will host a community-wide child safety seat check-
point. Newly trained Detroit-based Fit for a Kid inspectors will conduct the
inspections helping parents and caregivers properly install child safety
seats. The check-point follows a press conference with Lieutenant Governor
Dick Posthumus and DaimlerChrysler Chairman Robert Eaton that will introduce
Fit for a Kid in the Detroit community and the opening of the new I-75
Northbound ramp at Chrysler Drive.
Fit for a Kid offers DaimlerChrysler customers child safety seat
inspections through its network of dealerships. The service is free and by
appointment. The service will be launched nationally early next year.
WHY: On any given day in the Detroit area, an estimated 8 out of every 10
children are at risk in safety seats that are not properly installed. Through
Fit for a Kid, DaimlerChrysler, working with Fisher-Price and the National
Safety Council, wants to help prevent needless injury and death among children
by offering parents and caregivers this important service.
WHEN: 12:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., Thursday, October 14
WHERE: Parking Lot 26, adjacent to the new Chrysler Museum,
1000 Chrysler Drive, Auburn Hills
HOW: To get an inspection, parents and caregivers should bring their
vehicles and child safety seats. If they can bring their children, it is
better but not necessary. No appointment is necessary for this community
event.
