Kia to Repair Fuel Injection Wire Harness Circuit

    IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 25 -- Kia today announced a voluntary
recall of 1997, 1998 and selected 1999 Sportage sport-utility vehicles to
modify the fuel injection wire harness circuit.
    A total of 76,986 Sportages will be recalled due to poor connections in
the fuel injection wire harness circuit that could cause the engine to stall.
If the engine stalls, an accident could occur.
    Sportage owners are being asked by mail to bring their vehicle to a Kia
dealership so the fuel injection wire harness circuit can be modified.  The
procedure will take about two hours and will be done at no charge.
