ADVISORY/Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers' Representatives to Provide Comments Regarding Results of New State Studies On Electric Vehicles At Air Resources Board Public Workshop
State Studies Examining Viability of ZEV Mandate Indicate High Costand Technology Shortfall Issues as Critical Factors

WHAT: The California Air Resources Board (ARB) is holding
its second public workshop to hear from various
parties and organizations in preparation for the
September 2000 Biennial Review of the state's Zero
Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate.
Workshop discussion topics will include results and
findings from the ARB's Battery Technical Advisory
Panel and the University of California Davis' Cost
Study, including consumer demand, battery cost
factors, and environmental and energy impacts
issues. Air quality improvement issues and mutual
clean air goals will also be discussed. Steven
Douglas, Director, Environment Affairs, of the
Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, as well as
individual automobile industry representatives, will
attend the workshop and provide information and
feedback on report findings, alternative fuel
vehicles and clean air initiatives.
The Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers is a
coalition of 13 car and light truck manufacturers,
representing more than 90 percent of U.S. vehicle
sales. Alliance members include BMW Group,
DaimlerChrysler, Fiat, Ford Motor Company, General
Motors, Isuzu, Mazda, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan,
Porsche, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo.
