Free Vehicle VIN Etching Offered by the Pennsylvania Auto Theft Prevention Authority in Bucks County
6 July 2000
Vehicle Identification Numbers Etched Onto Vehicle Windows As a Means of Theft Prevention
BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Auto Theft Prevention Authority
and the Pennsylvania State Police will be holding a free VIN etching event on
Saturday, July 8, 2000 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The event will be held at
the Neshaminy Mall, Bensalem, PA, near the main entrance.
VIN etching is a proven theft deterrent, where the Vehicle's
Identification Number is etched on to all the vehicle windows. Would-be
thieves resist stealing a vehicle that is VIN etched because that vehicle is
more easily identified and, if stolen, all glass must be replaced in order to
remove traces of the VIN.
This is a free service provided by the Pennsylvania Auto Theft Prevention
Authority. The Authority's staff and local and state police officers will
etch vehicles (rain or shine) on a first-come, first-served basis. The
Authority encourages you to spend some time with them on Saturday morning to
help protect your vehicle.
